When summarising information on related texts, it may be helpful to use the following headings. These notes could then be written as sentences, and if the same order of information is followed, these sentences will be in a logically ordered format which can then be separated into paragraphs. Try it

1. title, author and idea/insight/concepts of text

2. full bibliographic details

3. purpose

4. briefly describe the content

5. techniques used: at least three and evidence/quote – when studying for an exam, learn these early and be accurate

6. explain how techniques convey insight/ideas – reinforce/highlight/demonstrate …

7. links to other (or prescribed) texts – think similarities/differences
